Facelift procedures continue to be among the top five most popular cosmetic surgical procedures performed. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the leading professional organization for plastic surgeons, more than 120,000 facelift procedures were performed by ASPS member surgeons in 2015. Dr. Paul Pin commonly performs the facelift procedure at his Dallas practice.
Of course, many facelift surgery patients may be apprehensive about the final outcome of their procedure. Dr. Pin has found it to be helpful to show patients some before and after pictures of some of his previous facelift patients. While no two patients are alike, it can be helpful to get an approximate idea of some of the possible outcomes that patients can achieve from the procedure. Below are several facelift cases to illustrate the variation of outcomes that can be achieved from a facelift procedure.
Facelift and Chin Implant
This case is a good example of what can be done with an overall facelift. As can be seen, the effects are subtle, yet provide an overall appearance of youthfulness and alertness. A small chin implant adds more definition to the chin and lower jaw. The overall effect is one of vitality, but not so obvious that others would think that the patient had undergone cosmetic surgery.
Male Lower Facelift
In addition to being a good example of how a facelift procedure can enhance the male facial features, this case also shows what can be achieved with a facelift procedure performed on only part of the face. In this case, the patient underwent a lower facelift, which only addresses the lower third of the face. Note that the biggest improvement is seen in the chin and neck. The chin is now more pronounced, and the neck appears smoother and more defined. The effect is one of a slimmer jawline with a well defined chin.
Facelift, Browlift, and Eyelid Surgery
In the case of this woman, the effects of a facelift, combined with upper and lower eyelid surgery and a brow lift, were much more dramatic than in the previous cases. The facial features are more defined and smooth, particularly along the jawline and chin. The eyes also appear more open and alert, and the forehead looks smoother than in the Before picture.
Facelift and Upper Eyelid Surgery
In this case of another man who underwent a facelift procedure, we see an example of a patient who opted for a subtle change to the features. The upper eyelid surgery removed excess skin and fat pockets, making his eyes appear more alert and fresh. The facelift procedure smoothed out his skin, particularly in the cheek and jowl areas.
There is any number of ways to surgically improve the facial features. Options range from something as subtle as eyelid surgery to a full facelift.
