The holidays can often be a nonstop whirlwind of parties, family outings, visits with relatives, office events and, of course, the traditional Christmas feast and opening of presents. During this time, most people want to look their best.
So, what can you do to present your best holiday appearance? Dr. Paul Pin regularly performs a number of non-invasive cosmetic procedures right in his office that have a quick recovery period and cause few side effects. Read further to see what he recommends to help you shine for the holiday season.
Botox injections are designed to minimize the appearance of lines and wrinkles around the forehead, between the brows, and at the outer corners of the eyes (crows’ feet).
Botox works on the muscles in these areas of your face by relaxing them, which will then lessen the appearance of deep frown lines, as well as some finer lines.
Dr. Pin can administer these injections in his office, usually in less than half an hour. You should start to see results in about two weeks after treatment, so Dr. Pin recommends scheduling your Botox session about three to four weeks prior to the big rush of your holiday social events. Most results will last for up to three months.
Dermal fillers are similar to Botox, in that both are used to smooth out the appearance of the skin. However, dermal fillers are only injected just underneath the surface of the skin, as they are designed to fill out and firm up the volume of your skin tissue.
This can be done in several areas of your face, including under the eyes, around the cheeks, and around or directly into the lips.
Dermal fillers can also reduce the appearance of acne scars, and fine lines and wrinkles. Results should be evident almost immediately, but Dr. Pin strongly suggests making your appointment a week or two prior to any big holiday event, as you may have mild bruising and swelling at the injection sites. Your results will generally last from about six to 12 months.
If your facial skin is in serious need of some holiday glow, microdermabrasion is an all-in-one treatment that can reduce the appearance of fine lines, pigmentation, and even sun damage on the surface of your skin.
Dr. Pin will use a fine, rotating brush or wheel to exfoliate the dead skin cells that make it look dull, old, and lifeless. Once the old skin has been removed, the new skin underneath will have a healthier, fresher glow.
Dr. Pin does caution that you may feel as though you have a mild sunburn for the first three to four days following microdermabrasion treatment, so you should take care to stay out of direct sunlight. You may wish to schedule your appointment a couple of weeks prior to any special events.
Everyone wants to look their best for the holiday festivities. Dr. Pin can offer several alternatives to surgical procedures to refresh your features just in time for all the holiday fun.
