Patients come in a variety of shapes and sizes. This is particularly true for those who are interested in undergoing a liposuction procedure to remove excess fat that has not responded to exercise and a sensible, low-fat diet. Along with this, patients' reasons for wanting liposuction will also vary. In many cases, patient expectations and goals for liposuction will play a role in the final outcome. Dr. Paul Pin has provided some before and after photos of some of his liposuction patients. This will give prospective patients some idea of how the final outcome from liposuction looks on patients similar to themselves.

Liposuction after Pregnancy

Liposuction After Pregnancy

It's no surprise that pregnancy can be difficult on a woman's body, both during and afterward. Following pregnancy, some women may notice extra bulges around the hips and abdomen from where the body did not conform back to its pre-pregnancy shape, despite exercise and a healthy diet.

This case is a great example of this. As you can see in the before and after photo, this patient's basic body contours have not changed, but the hips have been slimmed, in addition to the tummy tuck to remove the abdominal bulge. In the after pictures, the waist is also somewhat more defined, as compared to the hips.

Liposuction in Other Areas

Liposuction - Abdomen, Flanks, and Inner Thighs

It is true that the abdomen is the most popular area targeted for liposuction. However, the procedure can be performed on a variety of other areas of the body, such as the thighs, knees, buttocks, back, arms, or chin.

This case shows the changes that can occur from liposuction in places other than the abdominal region. This woman underwent liposuction of the flanks and inner thighs. The most obvious change can be seen in looking at her noticeably trimmer thighs from the front view. There is also more definition to the hip and waist area.

Liposuction to Firm Body due to Aging

Let's face it - at some point, the body will begin to show signs of aging. Areas of the body that were previously firm, smooth, and tight may now sag, droop, or appear lumpy. As the body ages, it begins to lose collagen, a natural protein that serves to fill out the body's frame over the skeleton.

In this case, liposuction can provide more tone and definition to the hips and waist of the older patient. Furthermore, areas of the skin that previously were lumpy or dimpled due to excess cellulite now are smooth and flat.

Tumescent Liposuction

Tumescent Liposuction

If the fat is relatively close to the skin, it can be removed using a technique known as tumescent liposuction. In this procedure, Dr. Pin injects a mixture of a topical anesthetic and epinephrine into the areas of the body targeted for fat removal. This will cause the skin and underlying tissue to swell closer to the surface, making it easier to remove.

In this case, you can see the results that can be achieved with tumescent liposuction. As the before and after photo shows, there is considerably more definition around the abdominal and hip areas, where the excess fat was removed.

As you can see from these photographs, four different patients got four different results from their liposuction procedure. Although Dr. Pin cannot guarantee that patients will have these exact same results, these photos can give an approximate idea of what can be done.
