BOTOX® Treatments

BOTOX® Cosmetic is designed to reduce the appearance of deep lines and wrinkles. BOTOX® Cosmetic is a good treatment option for the lines and wrinkles that appear between the brows as frown lines or across the forehead as worry lines.

These lines form when the facial muscles in your brow and forehead areas do not fully relax. Over time, this will create furrows. BOTOX® Cosmetic helps those muscles relax, thereby reducing the appearance of these frown and worry lines.

Dr. Pin will directly inject the BOTOX® Cosmetic into the facial muscles, after which, he may gently massage the area to help the BOTOX® Cosmetic settle.

This procedure can be done in his office, usually in less than an hour, and side effects are usually very mild, with almost no down time. BOTOX® Cosmetic will generally last anywhere from three to four months, after which you can undergo another treatment session.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are also injected into the face to reduce the signs of aging. However, dermal fillers add volume to the areas in which it is injected.

Dermal fillers are well-suited to treatment of the wrinkles and folds around the mouth and nose. They can also be used to add volume to areas that have lost fat, such as the cheeks or under the eyes.

Dermal fillers are made of a soft gel material. Dr. Pin will inject the dermal filler just under your skin in the areas where you want improvement.

The procedure usually takes no more than 20 to30 minutes, with no downtime. Dermal fillers generally last anywhere from six to 12 months, depending on the type of filler.

Daily Skin Care Routine

One of the best ways to maintain a youthful appearance is to have a good, daily skin care routine in place as early as possible. This routine should include a daily moisturizer, a cleanser, and a toner to help rebalance your skin if it is too oily or dry.

Invest in good-quality skin care products for this routine. Not only will they produce better results, but are also less likely to cause a breakout if you find that you are allergic to the ingredients.

Your basic routine should go as follows for both morning and bedtime:

  • Cleanser
  • Toner
  • Moisturizer

You may want extra hydration by adding a nighttime cream, which soaks into your skin as you sleep.

Lifestyle Changes

Believe it or not, you can actually give your face that healthy glow with some changes to your lifestyle.

One of the easiest changes to make is to reduce exposure to direct sunlight without proper protection. Ultraviolet rays from the sun can prematurely age your skin by accelerating collagen loss. This can give your skin a tough, leathery appearance. You may also develop sun spots, which are areas of darker pigmentation on the face.

Dr. Pin recommends wearing a sun care lotion with a high sun protection factor (SPF) if you will be out in direct sunlight for more than 20 minutes. A wide-brimmed hat and wrap-around sunglasses will provide extra protection for your face.

If you are a smoker, Dr. Pin recommends trying to reduce or quit, as tobacco smoke can dry out the facial skin, accelerating collagen loss. This will be most prominent in fine lines around your lips. Fortunately, the sooner you decide to quit, the greater the chances that some of the damage to your skin can be reversed.
