While there is no question that childrearing often has a detrimental effect on women's bodies, it can also take its toll on men who are also active in raising their children. Midnight diaper changes, bottle feedings, and burpings can not only leave dads feeling short on sleep but cut into regular exercise routines and healthy eating habits. The end result may be love handles, a sagging stomach, and "man boobs." Fortunately, Dr. Paul Pin offers dads a way to regain the healthy, defined bodies they had before baby food and diapers dominated their lives. Below are some of the body contouring services he offers as part of a "Dad Body" makeover.

Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)

A tummy tuck procedure is designed to tighten up loose muscle and remove excess loose skin and tissue from the abdominal region. In this procedure, Dr. Pin will make a horizontal incision from one hip across to the other. He will then make another incision around the belly button. The skin is then lifted away, the upper and lower abdominal muscles are tightened, excess skin and tissue are removed, and the remaining skin is draped over the new body contours and sutured back into place. This procedure can be done alone or in conjunction with a liposuction procedure to remove excess abdominal fat.

Liposuction

A liposuction procedure will remove stubborn excess pockets of fat that have not responded to the effects of regular exercise and a sensible, low-fat diet. As noted above, it can be done in conjunction with a tummy tuck procedure to tighten up loose abdominal skin, tissue, and muscles. While a tummy tuck removes excess skin, liposuction removes excess fat and focuses on putting the finishing contouring touches in the abdominal and hip areas.

During a liposuction procedure, Dr. Pin will start by making a series of small incisions into the body at the areas targeted for fat removal. He will then use a thin, hollow, metal tube (called a cannula) to vacuum out the excess fat. In some cases, lasers or ultrasonic waves are also used in order to break down the fat cells, making them easier to remove.

Male Breast Reduction (Gynecomastia)

Just as women's breasts can be affected by dramatic weight fluctuations (such as pregnancy and nursing), so too can men's breast tissue become enlarged due to excess weight. The male breasts become much more pronounced, sometimes including the size of the nipples. A harried new dad may not have the same amount of time to spend on exercise as they did before the arrival of their newborn.

In most cases, male breast reduction can be performed with just a liposuction procedure to remove the excess breast fat tissue. However, Dr. Pin can also reduce the size of the breasts using incisions that remove some of the excess breast tissue and skin.

New parenthood can be exciting and exhausting, even for dads. With dad makeovers, they can help undo the effects of months of sleepless nights and unhealthy eating. Now both mom and dad can look and feel as they did before the arrival of their children.
