Within the last decade, there have been tremendous advances in the field of plastic surgery, specifically in regard to facial plastic surgery. In the past, plastic surgery procedures may have left patients with a wide-eyed, startled appearance, looking as though their facial skin had been pulled too tight.

Fortunately, with the advent of improved techniques and tools with which to perform facial enhancements, results look more natural than ever. Dr. Paul Pin can offer his patients everything from a full facelift to a brow lift, which focuses on the forehead and brows.

Brow Lift Procedure

A brow lift procedure is designed too enhance the appearance of the upper third of the face. It can be done alone, or in conjunction with eyelid surgery to remove loose skin, bags, and excess fat around the upper and lower eyelids.

There are two options that Dr. Pin may use for the procedure. In a classic brow lift, one single incision is made starting behind one ear, following just along the hairline to behind the other ear. Dr. Pin will then gently lift up the skin and underlying tissue, remove the excess, and then suture everything back in place.

In an endoscopic brow lift, a series of small incisions are made in the scalp. An endoscope (a small camera on the end of a probe) is then inserted through the incisions to aid Dr. Pin in minimizing the lines and furrows on the forehead. This procedure is preferable when only a minimal amount of work is required to achieve the desired look.

Before and After Photos

Below are a few examples of the changes that can be achieved with a brow lift procedure.

Browlift with Upper Blepharoplasty

Brow lift and upper eyelid surgery

This is a good example of a more subtle look from a brow lift. Note that the eyes look further apart after surgery. Additionally, the forehead is smoother, and the eyes appear wider. The overall effect is not dramatic, but still makes the patient look alert and refreshed.

Male Browlift with Upper Blepharoplasty and Facelift

Male brow lift, upper eyelid surgery, and facelift

Although women are more likely to undergo a brow lift procedure, men can also benefit from this procedure, as this case shows. The forehead has fewer lines and wrinkles, and the eyes are wider. Note that the actual brow position on the face has been subtly moved up, thereby avoiding an overdone appearance.

Brow lift with Upper Blepharoplasty

Brow lift and upper eyelid surgery

This case shows a more dramatic, global result from a brow lift procedure when combined with eyelid surgery and facelift for the lower face and neck. The eyes are less hooded and the forehead has been smoothed out. Notice that the fine lines around the eyes, particularly the crows feet around the outer eyes, have been substantially minimized.

Each patient is different and has his or her own set of goals for what he or she wishes to achieve from a brow lift procedure. As can be seen in these photos, the results can range from subtle to dramatic. It all depends upon what the patient wants.
