The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) has released its annual statistics for surgical and non-surgical procedures for 2018. These numbers reveal a number of important trends in terms of surgical and non-surgical procedures performed throughout the United States.

Dr. Paul Pin and the team at our Dallas, TX practice would like to go over these ASPS numbers and what they may suggest about cosmetic treatments moving forward. If you would like to learn more about any of the treatments discussed below, be sure to schedule a consultation with a skilled cosmetic plastic surgeon and cosmetic skin care expert.

This is a 1% increase in cosmetic surgery procedures from 2017, a 2% increase in non-surgical cosmetic procedures from 2017, and an overall 2% increase in all cosmetic procedures performed in 2017.

  • Breast Reconstruction - 101,657

What These Trends May Tell Us about the Future

Given the trends above, we assume that non-surgical cosmetic procedures will continue to be the most popular option for patients. The affordability, lack of downtime, low complication risk, and great overall results have been especially appealing to patients.

As for surgical treatments, the top five has held steady for two years straight. As more people turn to cosmetic injectables and non-surgical facial rejuvenation, we assume that the top five may hold steady for a third straight year as facelift experiences another slight decline in popularity.
