The rhinoplasty procedure is designed to balance out facial features by reducing the nose’s prominence, sculpting down the bridge and tip, removing bumps, and improving overall symmetry. Dallas rhinoplasty surgeon Paul Pin, MD, has years of experience performing cosmetic nose surgery on patients; contact our office today to schedule your rhinoplasty consultation at our office.

The Rhinoplasty Procedure

The rhinoplasty procedure is typically performed on an outpatient basis, under general anesthesia. A discreet incision is made inside the nose and across the columella, allowing Dr. Pin to lift the skin and access underlying cartilage. Dr. Pin then reshapes the cartilage to achieve each patient’s desired results; this can include a refining of the tip, narrowing of the bridge, and recontouring of the nostrils.

If the nasal bones are reshaped, a splint will be placed on the nose at the end of the procedure and this will stay in place for about 5 days.  There is never any nasal packing or internal splint.

Cosmetic Nose Surgery Risks

The risks of cosmetic nose surgery are similar to the risks associated with any surgery: bleeding, infection, adverse reaction to anesthesia, and hematoma. Dr. Pin will discuss all potential risks with you prior to surgery.

Rhinoplasty Recovery

In the days following your nose surgery, during the recovery process, you may experience some pain, but this can be managed with the aid of prescribed medication. Rhinoplasty patients may experience temporary swelling, bleeding, bruising, and soreness after the rhinoplasty procedure. These side effects generally fade within a week or two. The side effects are at their worst the day of surgery and a day or two after surgery. The majority of the swelling and bruising should be gone by two weeks after surgery; patients can expect to return to work and their normal routines at that time.

Rhinoplasty Benefits

The benefits of the rhinoplasty procedure include improvement in:

  • Symmetry
  • Shape
  • Size
  • Breathing

Some patients that undergo rhinoplasty choose to undergo other procedures, including chin augmentation, at one time. Price reductions are offered to patients who have more than one procedure performed during the same appointment. If you wish to undergo nose reshaping or nose surgery to improve your breathing, contact the practice of Paul Pin, MD, today. Dr. Pin can provide you with the exact cost of treatment during your rhinoplasty consultation.
