Reasons Why Men and Women Undergo Facelift Surgery
Reduce the signs of aging. As we age, we tend to develop features such as jowls, sagging cheeks, lines running from the nose to the mouth, and creases extending from the mouth to the chin. Often, these signs of aging remind us of family members because they are determined by genetics. That doesn’t mean you have to be happy with the loose skin and wrinkles that accompany the aging process.
Look the way you feel. If you no longer see yourself the way you desire, it may be time to consider a facelift. Aging itself is not a motivation for seeking plastic surgery as much as the desire to simply not look old. Frequently, our patients feel their facial appearance does not represent the youth and vitality they feel inside. Facial rejuvenation can allow you to look as good as you feel.plastic surgery

Who Is a Good Candidate for a Facelift?
Age is less of a factor than most people expect. The ideal patient for a facelift is in good health and has lower facial jowling or excessive skin and fat in their neck. When these changes are present, surgery can be considered whether you are 40 or 70. A facelift will remove excess skin and deep wrinkles from the face while redefining the jawline and neck.
The Deep Plane Facelift
Dr. Pin performs exclusively the Deep Plane Facelift — the most advanced and durable technique available. Unlike simpler approaches that only tighten skin or superficial muscle, the Deep Plane technique goes deeper, releasing the facial ligaments that hold displaced tissue in place. This allows the underlying structures of the face to be repositioned — not just pulled — resulting in a more natural, longer-lasting outcome. It is a more complex procedure with a slightly longer recovery, but it is the approach Dr. Pin believes his patients deserve.

Anesthesia. A facelift is usually performed under general anesthesia and takes between three and four hours. Dr. Pin exclusively uses board-certified anesthesiologists — never a nurse anesthetist — because he believes every step of your care, from the first incision to the moment you wake up, should meet the same uncompromising standard.
Hospital stay. Dr. Pin routinely has patients spend the night at the hospital following surgery. This isn’t about pain management — it’s about giving you the best possible start to your recovery. Having skilled nursing care overnight means you’re monitored, comfortable, and well-rested before heading home the next morning.
Facelift Recovery Timeline
Here is what most patients can expect in the days and weeks following surgery:
| Day 1 | Spend the night in hospital with nursing care. Bandages removed the following morning. You may shower and wear makeup if desired. |
| Days 2-3 | Swelling reaches its peak. Rest at home. Most patients are comfortable but should plan for limited activity. |
| Days 4-5 | Sutures removed. Swelling begins to subside. Many patients feel noticeably better at this stage. |
| Weeks 1-2 | Most patients return to work and light daily activities. Makeup can cover any residual bruising. |
| Weeks 1-3 | Continued improvement as swelling fully resolves. Final results become visible. Scars continue to fade. |
Facelift Risks
Bleeding and infection are possible with any surgical procedure, though both are extremely uncommon in facelift surgery performed by an experienced surgeon.
Temporary numbness is experienced by some patients following surgery. This side effect typically resolves over the ensuing several weeks.
Smoking significantly increases healing risk. For this reason, Dr. Pin will not perform a facelift on anyone who has smoked in the few weeks prior to surgery.
Facelift Costs
Dr. Paul Pin typically charges $16,000–$18,000 for facelift surgery at his Dallas practice. This all-inclusive fee covers the procedure, board-certified anesthesiologist, surgical facility, and overnight hospital stay. Unlike injectables or fillers, a facelift delivers lasting results — most patients find a single procedure provides years of improvement with no ongoing treatment required.
Financing is available. Healthcare financing companies such as Prosper HealthCare Lending and United Medical Credit offer payment plans to qualifying patients, allowing you to break up the total cost into smaller monthly installments.

Frequently Asked Questions
Dr. Pin performs exclusively the Deep Plane Facelift. He believes it delivers the most natural, dramatic, and long-lasting results of any facelift technique available, and it is the only approach he offers.
Traditional facelift techniques either tighten only the skin or tighten the superficial muscle layer without going deeper. The Deep Plane technique releases the facial ligaments beneath, allowing the underlying structures of the face to be repositioned rather than simply pulled. The result looks more natural and lasts significantly longer.
This is one of the most common concerns patients bring to their consultation — and a valid one. Dr. Pin’s approach prioritizes repositioning facial structures rather than pulling skin tight, which is what produces the telltale “operated” look. The goal is always a refreshed, natural result, not a dramatically altered one.
Facelift incisions are carefully placed in natural creases and along the hairline — typically in front of and behind the ear — where they are easily concealed by hair and skin folds. With proper healing, scars become very difficult to detect. Dr. Pin’s experience and technique minimize tension on the skin, which is the primary factor in how well scars fade over time.
Yes, and it often is. Many patients combine their facelift with a browlift, eyelid surgery, or non-surgical treatments like BOTOX® or laser skin resurfacing as part of a comprehensive rejuvenation plan. Patients who undergo multiple procedures in one appointment are eligible for a price reduction.
The first step is a complimentary consultation with Dr. Pin. He will personally review your concerns, walk you through your options, and help you decide whether a facelift is right for you — with no pressure and no obligation. Contact our Dallas office today to schedule.
