Let's be honest - being a mother can take its toll. Between 3 am feedings and diaper changings, playing nurse for minor bumps and scrapes, and sitting up late at night waiting for teens to get home from a school dance, it's no wonder that moms may be a bundle of frazzled, jangled nerves.
Pregnancy and nursing can also take their toll physically. The breasts may droop and sag once children are weaned, and the abdomen may also sag and develop stretch marks. While Dr. Pin may not be able to help patients with the emotional or financial toll of bearing and raising children, he may be able to help with some of the physical changes.
What Is a Mommy-Plasty?
A mommy-plasty (also called a mommy-makeover) specifically focuses on the breasts and abdomen to help restore the patient's body to the shape and contours it had prior to pregnancy and nursing. Mommy-plasty procedures include a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), breast lift, breast augmentation, or breast reduction. In most cases, patients have decided not to have more children before undergoing any of these procedures.

Breast Augmentation and Tummy Tuck
This case is very typical of the mommy-plasties that Dr. Pin performs. The patient underwent an abdominoplasty to remove excess skin and tissue, and tighten up the underlying abdominal muscles. She also combined the abdominoplasty with a breast augmentation. Women with naturally small breasts may be disappointed when they stop nursing and their breasts return to their former size.
Breast Augmentation and Lift, Tummy Tuck, and Liposuction
This case is an example of what can be done to correct for droopy breasts with nipples that point downward, rather than either straight ahead or slightly upward. The patient also underwent a breast augmentation, abdominoplasty, and liposuction of the hips and thighs to remove stubborn pockets of fat.
Breast Reduction and Tummy Tuck
This case is different because the patient elected to undergo a breast reduction, rather than an augmentation. She also underwent an abdominoplasty. As can be seen in the before and after pictures, her breasts were likely large before pregnancy, and started to droop once she was done nursing. In the after pictures, her breasts have been lifted back into their pre-pregnancy position and reduced in size.
Tummy Tuck and Breast Lift
This case is interesting because she decided to undergo an abdominoplasty because she was unhappy with the results from a previous liposuction procedure and was looking for more dramatic results. She also underwent a breast lift procedure, as she was only unhappy about the shape of her breasts, rather than their size.
For many women, becoming a mother is one of the most rewarding experiences imaginable. However, motherhood can also leave the body in less than great shape. These women may long to restore the perky breasts and flat abdomen they had prior to pregnancy. Fortunately, Dr. Pin is well versed in a number of cosmetic surgical procedures that can not only help restore the pre-pregnancy body, but also give women the self-confidence they want to be able to show off their new contours to friends and family.
