Did you know that the medications, herbs, and vitamins that you take could increase your risk of bleeding and bruising after plastic surgery? Certain medications contain ingredients that thin the blood; use of these products should be halted for at least two weeks before and two weeks after surgery. During your pre-operative consultation with Dr. Paul Pin, we will discuss any medications, herbs, and vitamins that you have taken in the past couple of years.

If you have taken or regularly take medications that thin the blood, you may not be a good candidate for surgery. If it is safe to stop the medication for a few weeks, or if there are alternatives, you may proceed with your desired procedure. When you visit our office for your consultation, we advise you to come equipped with a comprehensive list of medications, herbs, and vitamins you have taken in the past couple of years; Dr. Pin will let you know if you can continue to use the products before and after surgery, and review a list of medications that are not recommended to plastic surgery patients.
